Heat exhaustion can be more than just a nuisance—it can be a serious health risk. By learning these simple techniques, you'll not only alleviate discomfort but also enhance your overall well-being during scorching summer days.
By the way, we are using our TanmuCare sandalwood massage and gua sha tools which are made of premium sandalwood and are very durable to use anywhere. Bring them with you when you are outdoors or travelling, and give you relief anytime.
The 5 Gua Sha techniques are very easy to remember and can make a real difference in combating the effects of heat on your body. From scraping the inner side of your arm to targeting key acupressure points, these tips are backed by ancient wisdom and proven to bring relief.
Tip 1) Scrape the inner side of your arm
This is where the Hand Jueyin Pericardium meridian passes through and helps protect your heart from temperature changes.
If you don't have a Gua sha tool, you can pinch with your fingers along the meridain pathways.
Tip 2) Scrape your neck
Bend your neck and scrape downwards to your back: Make sure to scrape from the Du14 acupressure point here, which is used in clinical practice to safely and effectively reduce fever.
Tip 3) Stimulate your Union Valley on hand
Press or pinch the Union Valley between the base of your thumb and index finger, also known as the Hegu acupressure (LI14) point in TCM. Stimulating this acupoint can greatly relieve headache, dizziness, and fever caused by heat exhaustion.
Tip 4) Scrape the outer side of your elbow
This is where the Quchi LI11 acupressure point is located, known as one of the strongest points in the body for clearing heat, such as from a sunburn or fever.
Tip 5) Stimulate the acupoint under your nose
Press or pinch your Renzhong acupoint (Du26)- which locates under your nose and above your mouth. This acupressure point is the most important one for restoring consciousness in cases of fainting or syncope. If someone has fainted due to the heat, try this method and seek medical attention as soon as possible.
Remember, taking care of yourself is a priority, and knowing how to effectively combat heat exhaustion is a valuable skill. So, be sure to take less than 2 minutes to empower yourself with these life-saving self-care tips.
