The fist image is Professor Zhang Xiuqin, a master of Gua Sha, under whom I had the privilege of systematically learning the art of Gua Sha. And the 2nd is Professor Hao Wanshan, a renowned national-level expert in Chinese medicine. These two eminent figures have come together to co-author the book Holographic Meridian Gua Sha, which meticulously documents over a hundred Gua Sha techniques aimed at addressing common ailments such as headaches, insomnia, rheumatoid arthritis, hemorrhoids, as well as women’s health issues like menstrual irregularities, dysmenorrhea, insufficient lactation, and even pediatric conditions.

In Professor Zhang Xiuqin's gua sha method, scalp gua sha is particularly important. Beyond the commonly discussed meridians and acupoints, Professor Zhang has, through decades of research and practice, pioneered the holographic meridian gua sha technique, with the head being intricately linked to our overall health. Particularly, the anterior hairline area is meticulously divided into seven sections, each closely connected to our well-being.

In the Gua Sha methods for addressing common health issues, we often see head Gua Sha featured—on the hairline, crown, and sides of the head. This is why I frequently recommend doing daily head Gua Sha, as it has a significant impact on overall health.

Originally, Professor Zhang's gua sha method was quite complex, requiring a full half-hour to complete, especially when dealing with the anterior hairline. However, considering the convenience of daily life, Professor Zhang has also shared two simplified versions of the method, recommending daily full-head gua sha 1-2 times for strengthening the body. This method, as I have recommended to you all before~

The simplest method, as I often mention, involves stroking along five meridians from front to back, 20-30 strokes per meridian. Some may wonder, is massage alone sufficient? While massage can indeed stimulate head acupoints and promote qi and blood circulation, the crucial aspect lies in unblocking the meridians, hence the indispensability of the gua sha step.

Love yourself a little more each day by repeating this simple hair-combing health-preserving action (excluding during pregnancy and menstruation), and strengthen your body!
